A 87 year old grandmother died after suffering a profound hypothermia after refusing to turn on the heat for ‘fear of high energy bills’, according to an investigation.

Barbara Bolton he ignored pleas from his family to turn up the heat in their terraced house in Bury, Greater Manchester (UK), according to relief after a hearing.

Doctors later confided that Bolton had one body temperature of only 28°Ccompared to the normal 37°C, it diffuses skynews.

It was then that they took her to the Fairfield Hospital, in Bury, but died of pneumonia caused by hypothermia on January 5.

“Clearly she was obsessed with turning on the heat, no matter what she was told,” coroner Joanne Kearsley told Mark Bolton, the victim’s son.

Investigation into the death of the elderly woman

During the investigation it was heard that hospital notes recorded that Mrs Bolton he had deliberately not turned on the heat “for fear of high energy bills”.

In his statement read out in court, the son said he spoke to his mother every day and visited her frequently.

And he added that the family too I had bought him some heatersbut that he only put them to work “out of obligation” when the family got together.

Finally, Mark revealed that his mother worked in mountain rescue and knew what Dangerous that hypothermia can be.

Even the coroner summed up the case: “She looked like a very extraordinary woman, still working at 82.”
