The actor is the son of Andrés García Calle, a military pilot considered one of the “aces” of Spanish aviation and commander of the republican forces during the Spanish civil war.

The family emigrated to the Dominican Republic, where García was born, and later settled in Mexico, so they had both nationalities.

For its part, the Teatros de Ciudad de México account posted on Twitter: “We are sorry for the death of the actor Andrés García (1941-2023). A leading figure in cinema and television, he began his career in the 1960s and made his debut with the film “Chanoc” in 1967. He participated in productions such as “Perfume de gardenias” and “Three strange couples”. RIP”.

Similarly, journalist María Luisa Valdez shared two images in which she appears with García and wrote a message recalling the moments of “talks, reproaches and laughter”.

He had a close friendship with the family of famous singer Luis Miguel, although his relationship with ‘El Sol’ cooled over the years.

His most recognized role was that of Pedro Navaja in the film of the same name (1984). In 1967 he had participated in the film “Chanoc”, a film that began a prolific career with almost a hundred films, but also Mexican soap operas such as “El privilegio de amar” or “El cuerpo del deseo”.

Although the cause of his death is unknown, the actor He had suffered from diseases such as cirrhosis and leukemia.

On April 1, his wife Margarita Portillo explained that the actor had shown low levels of hemoglobin and platelets in his most recent blood tests.

In the last months, the actor shared details of his life on a YouTube channel and on social networks, where he showed scenes from his life in the busy spas of Acapulco.

On his YouTube shows, García has also answered questions from his followers, such as his relationship with the late singer José José. However, in recent months he has shown pictures of himself being treated by doctors.

He had three children, two boys and a girl. One of them is also the actor Andrés García.
