A 6 year old girl I could die if you watch the popular children’s cartoon series Peppa Pig due to a strange disease that afflicts her since birth.
When was the girl born, named Sadie Bowyer, who is from Birmingham, England, remained in intensive care for the first six months of his life after suffering from “respiratory distress”.
At two months old, Sadie was diagnosed congenital central hypoventilation syndrome and underwent a tracheotomy — a hole created in her neck with a tube placed in her windpipe — to help her breathe.
However, the girl’s parents, Star and Andrew Bowyer, say that there are some instances where Sadie breathes it doesn’t work automatically. But why during Peppa Pig?
The mother said that the “brain can forget to breathe and send signals to make her heart beat”, meaning that “every night” there is a chance that her daughter will “die within minutes” if she wasn’t hooked up to a ventilator.
“If you focus too much, stop breathing. If he focuses too much on Peppa Pig he will stop breathing“The woman explained.
“It starts turning blue, gets tired of carbon monoxide retention and becomes very still. I immediately attached it to the fan”.
Sadie’s condition means that “I can’t leave her unattended” and requires a nurse with her during school hours in case she suddenly “falls asleep”.
“We have to be careful on long journeys drive or watch a movie at night. We have hospital-grade equipment in your room,” Star says.
“You have to keep an eye on her 24/7. I haven’t slept in six years because at night I hear the alarms”.
Star and Andrew say it feels like having two kids: “She’s a completely normal kid at the time, but when you sleep you stop breathing“.
The Bowyers have since created a GoFundMe page to raise money for Sadie to get diaphragm pacemakers to help her breathe without a ventilator: the surgery cost nearly $200,000.
“That operation it could change your life. It wouldn’t matter if she fell asleep.”
“The pacers would help her be like any other little girl,” she added, saying she suffers from the condition. “When she goes to the park some kids point to his windpipe and call it ugly“.
“She’s independent and annoys to have a nurse in her room, she wants privacy and to go play,” concluded the woman.
