It is undeniable that for some people the passage of time seems to not pass. They are those men and women who are always the same, regardless of the years.
Very obsessive care? Surgery or other techniques? A good diet? New research says this feature goes way beyond that.
According to a note on the Harper’s Bazaar website, researchers at Harvard Medical School, along with DNA analysis company 23andMe, have found the answer.
To do this, they studied the genetic data of 350 women of various ages and ethnic groups.
As a second step, they isolated people they considered “exceptional skin ages.” That’s what they called those who looked younger than their ID indicated, without having undergone cosmetic surgery.
why some people
they don’t age
The result of this survey is that genes have a lot to do with youthful appearance. According to the researchers, there are thousands of genes in DNA that focus on cellular energy, skin formation, and antioxidant production.
Those people who feel like the years don’t go by have a different expression of those genes. While, in others they wear out as they get older.
According to this study, race has some influence on this trait. The example: women of African descent have ten years slower skin aging than Caucasian women.
The goal of the investigation
The study was sponsored by a cosmetic company. Its aim is to tailor the findings and develop new antiaging products that help “turn on” these genes.
