Military transport and troops have arrived in Sudan to support the evacuation and evacuation of South Koreans residing in Sudan, where armed conflict is intensifying due to the civil war.

According to the Ministry of National Defense, an Air Force C-130J transport plane safely arrived at the US base in Djibouti around 5:20 pm on the 22nd.

The plane took off from Gimhae International Airport in Busan at around 4:35 pm the previous day, carrying about 50 people, including Army Special Warfare Command, Air Force Process Controller, pilots, mechanics, bodyguards, and medical personnel.

The decision to mobilize military transport planes to withdraw citizens from Sudan was made through an emergency meeting of related ministries supervised by the Office of National Security held the morning before.

On the morning of the same day, President Yoon ordered the dispatch of the Cheonghae Unit, an overseas dispatch unit from Salalah Port in Oman, to the waters near Sudan.

In Sudan, since the 15th (local time), clashes between government forces and rebels have intensified around the capital city of Khartoum, with about 400 people killed and more than 3,500 injured.

In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs launched the Overseas Koreans Countermeasures Team to frequently check the safety situation of Korean nationals residing in the country. serious) was issued.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also decided to dispatch a rapid response team headed by Choi Young-han, head of the consulate office for overseas Koreans, to Sudan to assist in the evacuation of Korean nationals.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, there are currently 26 Korean nationals (including diplomatic officials) residing in Sudan, and all are in safe condition.
