Egyptian police have arrested two boys accused of cheating and killing an 11-year-old classmate to steal just $3 of his pocket money.
The two alleged killers had invited their primary school victim, Mustafa Izat, to “play” with them. They allegedly took him to an abandoned house in the village of Al-Buraijat in Beheira province in northern Egypt.
But, according to the police, the couple strangled Mustafa and stole 100 EGP (three dollars) from him. had on him to spend on sweets and chips.
Police chief Major General Ahmed Khalaf told local media the boy’s body was recovered after being seen by farmers in the area.
An autopsy was then performed, which revealed that Mustafa had been strangled to death with bruises and abrasions on his neck. Police said the money was a gift Mustafa had received to mark Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan for Muslims.
The two suspects, who have not been identified, confessed to the murder, saying they were robbed before fleeing to buy sweets. The investigations continue their course. It is not clear whether the two minors have been reported.
