President Yoon Seok-yeol had an official dinner with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, who visited Korea on the 7th, at the presidential residence in Hannam-dong, Seoul.
After holding a joint press conference at around 6:00 p.m. that day, President Yoon moved to his official residence in Hannam-dong and entered into a fellowship dinner at 7:30 p.m. The meeting was attended by First Lady Kim Gun-hee, wife of President Yoon, and first lady Yuko Kishida, wife of Prime Minister Kishida.
This is the second time that a foreign guest has had a dinner at the official residence in Hannam-dong, following Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman last November.
It was reported that the dinner table on this day was Gujeolpan, japchae, tangpyeongchae, braised Korean beef ribs, beef leg, mineojeon, Korean beef bulgogi, wild wild prawns, naengmyeon, Korean traditional sweets, fruits, and sikhye. Basic side dishes include white kimchi, water kimchi, grilled deodeok, and Damyang bamboo shoots.
For dinner, Gyeongju Beopju was prepared. Gyeongju Beopju Choteugseon is considered one of the best cheongju in Korea. It is known that this was in consideration of the tastes of Prime Minister Kishida, who is known as a sake lover. When the two leaders met in March, they drank ‘Hwahapju’, a mixture of Korean soju and Japanese beer.
Inside the presidential office, there was even a prospect that if the atmosphere was good, President Yoon could show off his cooking skills.
After the official dinner, it is reported that the two heads of state couples will hold a second friendship event at the official residence, watching traditional music performances, etc. without moving their seats.
During President Yoon’s visit in March, the couple had their first dinner together at a restaurant in Ginza, Tokyo, and the heads of state of the two countries had a separate meeting for the second round at a light meal restaurant famous for omurice.
