In addition, the Democratic Party criticized the Korea-Japan summit by using expressions such as ‘bread shuttle diplomacy’ and ‘echo that does not return’.

Representative Lee Jae-myeong said on the 8th, “The government boasts that this summit is a restoration of shuttle diplomacy, but unfortunately, we have to listen to the self-mocking criticism of some of the people who say it is like ‘bread shuttle diplomacy’.”

Representative Lee said at the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that day, “It was the Yoon Seok-yeol government that filled the empty cup at the Korea-Japan summit, too,” and said, “The president finally disobeyed the people’s order to correct the humiliating diplomacy.”

Representative Lee said, “Rather, I went one step further and added another statement of indulgences for Japan’s colonial aggression.” We couldn’t even say a word about Japan’s invasion of Dokdo, and even pointed out that our diplomatic and military sovereignty is subordinated to Japan’s Indo-Pacific strategy.”

He said, “I am concerned that the Fukushima polluted water inspection team will be abused to justify the discharge of polluted water as a sidekick for the discharge of polluted water.”

He said, “The normalization of Korea-Japan relations is necessary and I agree. Even so, we must not exploit our national interest, national prestige, and historical justice,” he said. “We cannot move forward by selling the past. I ask you once again to engage in dignified national interest diplomacy in accordance with the will of the people.”

Floor leader Park Kwang-on also said, “Future-oriented Korea-Japan relations cannot be achieved with echoes that do not return.”

Representative Park said, “The public is very embarrassed that nothing has been done with a clear apology for the past, the complete withdrawal of the plan to inject contaminated water from Fukushima, and a strong warning against the claim of sovereignty over Dokdo.” The difference between the ‘Obuchi Declaration’ and yesterday’s Korea-Japan summit diplomacy is that the national interest of the Republic of Korea, the consent of the people of the Republic of Korea, and the pride of the people of the Republic of Korea are absent compared to then.”

Wonnae Park said, “The Korea-Japan relationship is the infrastructure of the US-Japan alliance, and the ROK-US or Korea-Japan relationship should not proceed in the process of undermining the overall national interest of Korea.” We should not forget that there is great concern among the people that it will be done,” he said.
