An 11-year-old prodigy, who has an IQ higher than Einstein’s, is studying for a master’s degree in engineering and hopes to one day become a NASA astronaut.
Adhara Perez Sanchezfrom Mexico City, grew up in the low-income neighborhood of Tláhauc and was frequently bullied at school for being autistic.
He was diagnosed with a developmental disability at age three after his speech significantly regressed. They found her rocking in his high chair and started crawling around very fast.
After enduring years of apathetic teachers and bullying from her classmates, which led her to switch schools three times, Adhara began to withdraw, her family told Marie Claire Mexico.
“The teachers weren’t very empathetic, they told me I wanted me to finish an assignment,” her mother, Nayeli Sánchez, told the magazine. She’s started to exclude herself, she didn’t want to play with her classmates, she felt strange, different.
“He might be in school for a while but then he couldn’t, he fell asleep, he didn’t want to do any more stuff,” she continued. “She was very depressed. People had no empathy. They made fun of her.”
She realized that her daughter had already taught herself algebra and memorized the periodic table, but Nayeli dismissed it, thinking her daughter must be bored.
To help with her daughter’s depression, she enrolled her in therapy and was soon advised to send her to Centro de Atención al Talento (CEDAT), a school for gifted children. Here, her IQ was confirmed to be a staggering 162, higher than that of Albert Einstein and his muse Stephen Hawking, who both had IQs of 160.
He first met Hawking when he visited one of his doctors, who had an office filled with artwork depicting the scientist, famous for his discovery that black holes emit radiation.
“He was very intelligent, manifesting himself with his mind and through the computer,” his doctor told him, according to Marie Claire Mexico, and thus his fascination with the British physicist and space exploration was born.
She finished elementary school at age five, according to Goalcast, then finished middle school and high school a year later.
