Charged with supplying a lethal dose of drugs to Italian chef Andrea Zamperoni, who was murdered in New York on August 18, 2019, the prostitute was sentenced to 30 years in prison by the Brooklyn District Court.
Angelina Barini, 43, admitted to giving the chef of the famous restaurant Cipriani Dolci a narcotic cocktail based on the potent opioid fentanyl.
Three days after Zamperoni’s death, Barini was found in his room at the Kamway Lodge boarding house in Queens, wrapped in sheets as agents searched the crime scene to find the missing chief.
“The defendant, in addition to stealing from them while he was unconscious, drugged and killed several people for a few simple dollars. Several customers died from the deadly drugs he had prescribed,” the prosecution said.
US officials also described Barini’s “showing a shocking indifference to human life”. “The sentence should serve as a warning to prospective perpetrators that these heinous crimes have dire consequences.”
The prostitute may have been responsible for the deaths of three other people, two tourists and a pensioner. The men were robbed and found dead from an overdose. The woman and a partner drugged the victims and robbed them because they could no longer react.
