Huawei has put forward digital transformation in the Asia-Pacific region as a solution to the US-China conflict. It is a strategy to expand the telecommunications-based digital transformation business centered on the Asia-Pacific region by escaping from the mobile and telecommunications equipment businesses, which were directly hit by the Missul conflict. In particular, it seems to be concentrating on securing partners by focusing on the cloud field.

Huawei held the ‘Huawei Asia Pacific Partner Conference 2023’ under the theme of ‘Grow Together, Win Future’ in Shenzhen, China on the 17th (local time). The event was attended by 1,200 Huawei partners from 10 countries including Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Laos. This is the first time Huawei has held a conference for partners in the Asia Pacific region.

David Wang, Director of the Board of Directors of Huawei and Chairman of the Board of Management of ICT Infrastructure, who delivered the keynote speech, said, “A huge opportunity is facing us all.

He also emphasized that he would support various industries and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to speed up their digital transformation. It can be interpreted that it will secure new growth engines through digital transformation projects centered on the Asia-Pacific region, with mutual growth with partners at the forefront.

Based on Huawei’s existing communication capabilities, it aims to expand its business targeting the entire digital economy market from various industries such as smart ports, smart factories, and digital payments to SME support solutions. It is similar to the ‘de-communication’ strategy of domestic telecom companies.

William Dong, President of Huawei's Cloud Marketing Division, said the cloud business has become a key growth engine for the company. 2023.5.17/News1 ⓒ News1William Dong, President of Huawei’s Cloud Marketing Division, said the cloud business has become a key growth engine for the company. 2023.5.17/News1 ⓒ News1

At the same time, Huawei has put forward the cloud as its main growth engine. William Dong, President of Huawei’s Cloud Marketing Division, set goals for cloud business to secure more than 1 million partners, connect more than 10 million developers, and provide services to more than 10 million enterprise customers.

“Huawei Cloud will continue to use the technology, tools, and experience accumulated over the past 30 years on the cloud by focusing on the strategy of Everything as a Service,” said Dong.

Nicholas Ma, President of Huawei’s Asia-Pacific Enterprise Business Unit, stressed the importance of the Asia-Pacific region. Huawei expects its Asia Pacific business to grow rapidly and contribute to 95% of its partners’ enterprise segment revenues in the future. It also expects its Asia Pacific partners to earn $8 a year just from selling Huawei products and services.

Also noteworthy is the emphasis on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) areas, such as carbon neutrality. Charles Yang, President of Huawei Digital Power Global Marketing, Sales and Services, predicts that the potential market value of green growth industries, including carbon neutrality, will reach trillions of dollars over the next 30 years. It seems to be a dimension to secure reliability through sustainable technology in line with the global trend and speed up value-based growth.

“Huawei’s goal is to grow a digital power technology company around a strong and sustainable ecosystem,” said Charles Yang.
