Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were all smiles as they left a room at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York on Tuesday night, following their first public appearance together since their coronation. She had received an award as a feminist leader at the 50th anniversary of the Ms Foundation for Women.

The Duchess received the award Women of Vision Award from the MS Foundationin recognition of her “global support to empower and advocate on behalf of women and girls”.

The Duchess praised the ‘service’ when she accepted the Women of Vision award at the lavish New York gala with Prince Harry.

She wore a gold strapless mini dress designed by a Colombian and Tom Ford sandals.

In his acceptance speech he closed the gala, where he said, “It’s never too late to start. You can be the visionary of your own life… There’s still a lot of work to do.”

custody fight

The couple are currently in dispute with the UK Home Office over the custody the prince should receive, which he is currently paying out of pocket.

The body that decides whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex should have custody paid for by the British state is controlled by King Charles III’s private secretary, who he refuses to give it up.

“While being a public figure comes with a level of interest in people, it shouldn’t be a cost to anyone’s safety”the couple said in a statement.
