Pope Francis delivered a public address in defense of his mother-in-laws in St. Peter’s Square this Wednesday (27).
During the sermon, the leader of the Catholic Church asked believers to be mindful of their wives’ relationships with their mothers, saying that the “the farther the better” idea had to be overcome.
“Today the mother-in-law is a legendary character. I’m not saying we see her as a demon, but we always think of her as a bad figure.
But mother-in-law is the mother of your husband or wife.
Francis added, “Sometimes they are a little special, but they have given their wives motherhood. If they have any flaws, they should fix it.”
Then Jorge Bergoglio gave a warning to the mother-in-laws.
Emphasizing the “danger” of being jealous of his own child, the Pope said, “Watch your tongue, because language is one of the worst sins of mother-in-laws.”
