American billionaire investor Jeffrey Epstein, who made an extreme choice in a detention center in 2019 while indicted and imprisoned for sexually exploiting 20 minors, interacted with Professor Noam Chomsky (95), a well-known linguist and progressive social activist, It turned out that it even replaced the asset transaction. Professor Chomsky was found to have held various meetings several times even after knowing that Epstein served time for sex crimes against minors.

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the 17th (local time) that Epstein confirmed that Chomsky, a professor at the University of Arizona and emeritus professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), had made a financial transaction worth 270,000 dollars (approximately 360 million won). . Professor Chomsky argued that it was a financial transaction without a price. He explained to the WSJ, “Epstein was only technically helping me in the process of sorting out the property with my first wife who had passed away, and I didn’t receive a penny from him.” Professor Chomsky, who said he never hired Epstein as his financial agent, said, “(Epstein did) a simple account transfer.”

It was revealed that Professor Chomsky interacted with Epstein despite knowing about his history of sexual abuse of minors. Epstein served a 13-month sentence in 2008 for sex trafficking minors and was placed on public disclosure. At the time of the ruling, social controversy arose, saying that it was a ‘punishment with a cotton bat’.

Citing Epstein’s personal schedule documents, the WSJ reported that Professor Chomsky met with Epstein several times in 2015 and 2016. In 2015, he was invited to take Epstein’s private plane to his mansion in Manhattan, New York, and also met film director Woody Allen on a private plane with Epstein.

Professor Chomsky supported Epstein while acknowledging his interaction with him. When asked about his relationship with Epstein, he said, “First of all, it’s none of your business. Epstein and I knew (and) met occasionally,” he told the WSJ. “Epstein completed his sentence after being convicted. American law and social norms believe that in this case, a fresh start is enough.”

Epstein was also known for his extensive friendships with prominent figures in politics, business, entertainment and sports, such as Bill Clinton, former US President Donald Trump, Britain’s Prince Andrew, and Bill Gates. Zoichi Ito, a famous American information technology (IT) scholar and director of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab, resigned in 2019 when financial ties with Epstein became known.
