The B-side of Johnny Depp’s participation at the opening of the Cannes Film Festival 2023 It wasn’t quite as glorious as his triumphant return to the film mecca after the vicious trial he starred in last year with his ex Amber Heard.
When the seven-minute standing ovation Depp received at the screening of Jeanne-du-Barry -the film in which he plays King Louis XV- he decided, his fans began to shoot much better.
That’s why Twitter hasn’t lacked those who have distinguished themselves his neglected dentures. In many photographs both on the day of the screening and on the day of the press conference, the actor is shown smiling and revealing his quizzical smile.
Johnny’s teeth, in the center of Twitter
“Johnny Depp was incredibly handsome. What happened? Look at his TEETH! Don’t have tall children,” one person tweeted, for example.
Another highlighted: “Johnny Depp’s teeth are literally ROOT”. “Johnny Depp has bad teeth and they’re not healthy,” added a third.
There are also those who no longer want to come across photos of the teeth of celebrity: “I need an activation notice for Johnny Depp’s teeth.”
There were even a few condescending ones who pointed their teeth at Heard or threw sentences like: “I don’t understand the unhealthy obsession some have with finding something ‘negative’ in his appearance. If Johnny Depp doesn’t want crystal clear false teeth, then he doesn’t need them”.
The triumphant return of the actor
On Tuesday Depp was the protagonist of the inauguration of the 76th edition of the festival. The actor sealed his return to the screens by receiving 7 minutes of applause at the presentation of the film Maiwenn.
Jeanne du Barry opened the “World Cup of Cinema” which will be held on the French coast until Saturday 27 May. The flashes, however, weren’t on the direction or the story: they focused, as expected, on Depp.
As can be seen in several videos that appeared on French TV and networks, the actor collapsed when he heard the applause that was given to him.
Additionally, she waved from a balcony and spent several minutes among dozens of fans who came to the red carpet.
The director and star of the film added her tears. “It was a difficult production to finance and I want to share this moment with my entire team”, he said enthusiastically.
Jeanne-du-Barry
Jeanne du Barry is the first film Depp has worked on after experiencing a troubled 2022.
In it, the actor plays the French king who ruled for 59 years, leading the second longest monarchy in history.
The protagonist of the film is Jeanne, a young working-class woman who uses her intelligence and her charm to climb the social hierarchies and when she appears in the eyes of the king she becomes his lover.
