This Joint Committee on Science and Technology is the first face-to-face meeting to be held since the 9th meeting due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Starting with discussions on priorities for science and technology cooperation and future directions for cooperation, the two countries will share bilateral policies in the fields of next-generation semiconductors, nuclear fusion/nuclear physics, artificial intelligence, and bio, and devise plans for cooperation. Afterwards, we will discuss ways to strengthen solidarity in the basic elements of international cooperation, such as personnel exchange, research ethics, and standards, and ways to solve global issues using science and technology, such as climate change response and polar oceans.
In addition, a separate meeting is held between high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Science and ICT and the US State Department to discuss plans for follow-up cooperation in overall science and technology achievements at the Korea-US summit, such as space and quantum science technology, to exchange in-depth discussions.
