On the 21st, Seong Il-jong, chairman of the People’s Power ‘Protection of Our Sea Verification TF (TF)’, raised his voice to Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party representative, saying, “I hope you do not deceive the people with ignorant words such as’You should drink’.”

Representative Lee said the previous day that Wade Allison, professor emeritus at Oxford University in the UK, insisted on the safety of contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan that had gone through a multi-nuclide removal facility (ALPS Alps) at the People’s Power TF invitational meeting and mentioned that even 100 liters could be drunk. It has been criticized as “nonsense”.

Chairman Sung posted on his social network service (SNS) Facebook this morning, ‘CEO Lee Jae-myeong! Don’t you know why sewage and wastewater treatment are circulated in the natural world?’

He said, “Representative Lee said at the outdoor rally yesterday, ‘No matter what anyone says, even if experts say that it is okay to drink 100 liters every day, not 10 liters, what is certain is that the Japanese government itself considers it useless and dangerous and throws it into the sea.’ ” he wrote.

“This remark seems to have been made after watching the ‘Meeting with Emeritus Professor Allison’ hosted by the People’s Power ‘Protection of Our Sea Verification TF’, of which I am the chairman, the day before yesterday. I am grateful that the representative of the 1st party in Korea seems to have been watching the TF meeting with interest.”

Chairman Seong said, “However, even after watching the meeting, it seems that you did not understand the contents properly, so I will give you a little explanation.” Please listen carefully to my explanation.”

“CEO Lee said, “If you want to drink water at home, do you pour toilet water and drink it?” However, when we boil stew at home, we boil water from the sink, not toilet water. It is because drinking water is not simply a matter of whether the water is clean or dirty, but there is an ’emotional problem’.”

Chairman Seong said, “No matter how clean the water is, if it is recycled water or water that we are emotionally reluctant to drink, we do not drink it. That’s why it’s circulating. Sewage treatment water from our body is first-class water after filtration and sterilization,” he emphasized.

“The water in Fukushima is the same. It’s not dangerous, but that’s why people don’t drink it or use it as pool water. Even in our nuclear power plants, we do not drink the water used and discharge it into the sea.”

He said, “I hope you don’t deceive the people with ignorant words such as ‘drink only yourself’. Haven’t you tried sewage treatment while serving as Mayor of Seongnam?” “The Democratic Party is only engrossed in spreading radioactive rumors for their own political gain. I hope the Democratic Party will take responsibility if seafood consumption shrinks due to radioactive rumors,” he warned.

He continued, “If there is a problem with the contaminated water in Fukushima, please tell us which part and which scientific figure is the problem. You haven’t apologized before, have you?” he asked.

Chairman Seong said, “As a responsible ruling party, our party cannot help but worry about the lives of our fishermen and restaurant owners.” “We will stand by the fishermen. Our seafood will continue to be safe and delicious forever,” he emphasized.

Then he said, “Representative Lee! We hope you will continue to pay a lot of attention to our TF activities.”

On the other hand, CEO Lee attended the ‘National Day of Action to Prevent Japan’s Marine Dumping of Radioactive Water’ held in front of the Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul the previous day and said, “Even if a British expert says nonsense that it is okay to drink 10 liters every day, not 1 liter, no matter what anyone says, nothing is certain. The Japanese government itself is a useless and dangerous substance, so it is being thrown into the sea.”

He emphasized, “The Japanese government doesn’t have money, so it’s a waste of money, so it would be okay to throw it away, whether or not neighboring countries suffer damage or pollute the world’s oceans, but there is no reason for the Korean president or the Korean government to agree with it.”

Representative Lee said, “It is not right to invite people and spend a lot of money and have a party with nonsense, saying that it is treated water rather than contaminated water, that there is no need to take samples, that it is okay to drink it as drinking water,” and added, “It is not right for the president and the government to protect the lives and safety of the people of Korea. Because it is throwing away responsibility,” he pointed out.
