British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Tuesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin has the “political space” to end the occupation of Ukraine, thanks in part to Russian censorship.
“Given the overwhelming Russian support for what he is doing and the apparent lack of interest in the Russian media about what is really going on in Ukraine, the paradox lies in the fact that Putin has much more political room to step back. [e] back off,” Johnson told TalkTV.
Russia said the invasion of Ukraine was a “military operation” and threatened to arrest anyone who presented a different version of events.
As a result, Putin can tell the Russian people that the operation launched in Ukraine is “completed” and “technically”. [foi] a success,” Johnson explained.
Russia has repeatedly warned that the war in Ukraine could escalate into a nuclear conflict as the West continues to send weapons to Ukraine.
But Johnson insisted that despite the nuclear threat, the West did not need to make concessions.
“I believe it [Putin] Johnson said he has much more political space than is believed.
“We say we have to make a concession, we have to worry about what Putin might do and the risk of defeat,” he said.
“I believe it [Putin] there is a lot of room, a lot of room for manoeuvre,” the British leader concluded.
