The video of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky showing cocaine on his desk during a meeting with billionaire Elon Musk, owner of SpaceX and Tesla, who bought Twitter, is fake. It is montage. The original recording was posted on Zelensky’s official profile on March 5.

A reader received the fake content via WhatsApp and forwarded it to the relevant person. UOL Control by email [email protected]. The video was accompanied by a message: “Zelensky is video chatting with Elon Musk. As a stimulus, a mountain of cocaine. The lives of millions of people are in the hands of a junkie.” The edited footage shows the Ukrainian president navigating a cell phone over blurred papers with a pile of cocaine and a credit card on his desk, followed by a video call by Zelensky with Musk and two other men on his computer screen.

The original recording was posted on the profile of the Ukrainian president on March 5. Inside, we can see that everything is as in the tampered video, except for the cocaine and the credit card.

In the title of the original post, the head of state thanked Elon Musk for sending equipment to maintain internet access in Ukraine. Zelensky also invited the businessman to visit the country after the war was over.

The video call was reported by international media outlets such as the BBC and The Independent. Others such as the US edition of Rolling Stone, TF1 Info from France, and Al Bawaba from Jordan have released checks of the same over-edited video, showing fake content circulating in other countries as well.
