A woman had a child with her girlfriend thanks to her ex’s sperm and now they all live together with two other children. While processing her divorce, a young woman met her current boyfriend and together they decided to be mothers with the help of her ex-husband.
Linda Fruits, 33, of Sunrise, Florida, USA, ended her marriage to Christopher Haerting, 36, in August 2021 after eight years together and having had their second child in 2020.
When she was browsing TikTok, Linda discovered she was attracted to a woman and had a “sexual awakening,” realizing she was a lesbian.
After meeting his current girlfriend, Maddy Gross, 36, in November 2021, their relationship progressed rapidly and Maddy has openly shared her desire to have children.
And just six months after they met, Maddy moved into the family home with Linda, Christopher, and their two sons, Elliot, four, and Owen, two.
The couple asked Christopher if he would consider being their sperm donor to expand their family. and the trio decided to move forward together, Christopher being the father of the child, as well as a sperm donor.
“When she said yes, I didn’t know who Maddy loved more, him, the kids or me,” Linda says. “On our second appointment, Maddy told me she had always wanted to be a mother and she was trying to find a donor.”
“We talked about how crazy it would be if Christopher was the donor and our kids were related. We asked him five months later.”
While the request was somewhat unusual, Linda and Christopher’s experience as co-parents was equally untraditional, as the couple decided to continue living together after their divorce.
She originally thought she was bisexual and came out to Christopher, but later he realized that he is only attracted to women and they broke up in August 2021.
However, they agreed to remain a unit for the sake of their children and continued to live together. Christopher said: “It was still difficult from time to time, but we always talked about our emotions and that helped a lot.”
“We both knew our kids are the most important thing and Getting to see them every day has been more important than breaking up our family and honestly making things more complicated for ourselves.”
