Director Yoo Gook-hee, who led the inspection team, explained the activities in the briefing room of the Seoul Government Complex this morning. Director Yoo said, “The inspection team has a multi-nuclide removal facility (ALPS), which is a key facility related to marine discharge of contaminated water, a facility for measurement confirmation (K4 tank group), discharge (transfer/dilution/release) facility, central monitoring and control room, and chemical analysis building. (Radiation analysis laboratory), etc. were intensively inspected.”

ALPS is a facility to remove radionuclides (except for tritium) from contaminated water at the Fukushima nuclear power plant. The inspection team has secured data such as major failure cases and measures to be taken after ALPS operation, and plans to comprehensively check ALPS performance by securing additional ALPS maintenance plans along with detailed analysis of the data.

The K4 tank group is a facility that measures the concentration of radionuclides and checks whether the emission standards are satisfied. The inspection team checked the installation status of the circulation pump that circulates the contaminated water between tanks, and test and inspection records to check the performance of the circulation system.

In the case of the transfer facility, it was confirmed that the valve was designed to automatically close when the driving force of the emergency shut-off valve was lost, and that a manual shut-off valve was additionally installed.

Check whether the dilution/discharge facility is diluting seawater and polluted water to meet the tritium emission target (1,500 Bq/L), and whether the seawater transfer pump is designed with sufficient capacity (7,086 m3/hr per unit) to meet the dilution target. did.

The central monitoring and control office said that it focused on inspecting the adequacy of monitoring and control of major facilities and whether it was possible to urgently shut off the discharge of contaminated water and alarms in the event of an abnormal situation. The inspection team plans to comprehensively check the adequacy of the monitoring and control functions through inspections by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRA) on the transfer dilution and discharge facilities.

In the chemical analysis building, it was confirmed that 38 units of analysis equipment were equipped and that the analysis process was proceduralized. In addition, it was announced that it was confirmed that indicator organisms were selected and evaluated according to the standards of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the International Commission on Radiation Protection (ICRP) during the radiation impact assessment.

Finally, the inspection team explained, “This visit has made significant progress in the process of scientific and technological review through direct confirmation of the site and securing more specific data.” .

The inspection team revealed all 21 members that day. In the opposition, criticism was raised that the inspection team was blind, saying that the list of inspectors was not disclosed. The government has explained that this is so that members can carry out their activities properly without feeling burdened.

The members of the inspection team unveiled on this day included Director Yoo Kang Yoo-gyeom, Researcher, Environmental Radiation Evaluation Office, Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety, Kim Dae-ji, Senior Researcher, Environmental Radiation Evaluation Office, Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety, Kim Seok-hyun, Senior Researcher, Marine Environment Research Department, Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology, Kim Seon-hye, Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety, Machinery Senior Researcher, Material Evaluation Office, Kim Seong-il, Senior Researcher, Radiation and Waste Evaluation Office, Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety, Kim Jeong-ho, Senior Researcher, Structure and Site Evaluation Office, Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety, Kim Chul-soo, Senior Researcher, Environmental Radiation Evaluation Office, Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety, Kim Hyun-il, Senior Researcher, Environmental Radiation Evaluation Office, Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety Researcher Shin Cheol, Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety and Technology Overseas Regulatory Technology Support Project Senior Researcher, Shin Ho-cheol, Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety and Instrumentation and Control Electricity Evaluation Office Senior Researcher, Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety and Security Research Institute Jang Jae-kwon, Senior Researcher, Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety and Technology Institute Senior Researcher, Jung Gu-young, Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety and Nuclear Safety Research Institute, Sujin Jeong, Senior Researcher Senior Researcher, Regulatory Policy Office, Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety Seung-Young Chung, Senior Researcher, Expert Fellow, Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety, Yoon-Hyung Jeong, Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety, Education and Operation Office Commissioned Regulatory Affairs, Kyu-Han Chae, Environmental Radiation Evaluation Office, Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety, Senior Researcher, Na-Yoon Choi, Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety They are Researcher at the Waste Evaluation Office, Seok-Won Choi, Senior Researcher, Environmental Radiation Evaluation Office, Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety, Young-Sung Choi, Senior Researcher, Innovation Strategy Center, Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety, and Seung-Yeon Han, Researcher, Environmental Radiation Evaluation Office, Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety.
