A famous Chinese broadcaster who had an affair with former Foreign Minister Qin Gang, who was suddenly dismissed in July of this year after enjoying success and enjoying the favor of Chinese President Xi Jinping, had a son through a surrogate mother in the United States, according to the British Financial Times (FT). reported. There is an interpretation that it may be related to the reason for the dismissal of former Director Chin.

According to the FT on the 26th, the woman who is in an affair with Qin Gang is TV host Fu Xiaotian (傅曉田, 40). The FT quoted people around Fu Xiaotian as saying, “He had a child through her surrogate mother.” She went on to say that Chinese authorities are investigating the relationship between the two, and that it is unclear how much influence this relationship had in the former director’s dismissal. FT did not mention whether the child’s father was the former manager.

It is known that Fu Xiaotian first met former Director Qin, who was working at the Chinese Embassy in the UK, in London around 2010. FT reported that the two met again in Beijing around 2020 and became close. Fu Xiaotian interviewed then-ambassador to the United States Qin Gang in March 2022 while working as a host on Chinese satellite broadcaster Fenghuang TV.

However, as former Foreign Minister Qin began to distance himself after being appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs at the end of last year, Fu Xiaotian appears to have begun leaking information about their relationship on social media. Fu Xiaotian revealed on Weibo (Chinese version of Twitter) in March this year that her child’s father is not American. On the 12th of the same month, when Qin Gang was promoted to State Councilor, he wrote ‘victory ending’ along with a photo of a baby raising his hand. A week later, around former Director Chin’s birthday (the 19th), he posted a message congratulating his child’s father on his birthday without revealing his name. He stopped being active on social media after April and has been missing since June.
