According to local Israeli media and Reuters on the 12th (local time), the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched a counteroffensive targeting Hamas facilities in the Gaza Strip on the 7th and has so far launched approximately 6,000 bombs containing a total of 4,000 tons of explosives. Foot was dropped on Gaza Strip. Hamas also claimed that more than 5,000 rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory.

As of this day, the Israeli death toll was estimated at 1,300 and the injured at 3,200, resulting in a total of 4,500 casualties. The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that as of today, the total number of injured was 6,868. In total, the number of casualties on both sides exceeded 10,000.

Israel is ruminating on its will to retaliate against Hamas’ intense massacre of civilians. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who agreed to form a wartime coalition with some of the opposition parties, emphasized that day to Hamas, “Everyone is dead.” IDF spokesman Lt. Col. Richard Hecht said, “A political decision has not yet been made,” but added, “We are preparing to deploy ground troops in the Gaza Strip.”

Currently, the Gaza Strip is blockaded by Israel, and the only power plant in the region is out of operation. Food and drinking water supplied by Israel were also expected to run out soon due to the blockade following the start of the war.

On this day, Israel carried out air strikes on the international airports in Damascus, the capital of Syria, and the northern city of Aleppo. In the past, the Israeli military often conducted airstrikes on Syrian military facilities to check the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, which supported Syria. However, some are concerned about the spread of the war to neighboring countries, citing the fact that this airstrike was carried out during the war with Hamas.

U.S. Secretary of State Tony Blinken, who was dispatched to Israel, met with Prime Minister Netanyahu on this day and said, “The United States firmly supports Israel’s right to defend itself against terrorist attacks by Hamas.”

Secretary Blinken, however, emphasized the difference between democratic countries and terrorists and said, “It is important to take every possible precaution to avoid harming civilians.”
