Netanyahu drove Israel to the brink of civil war
“The public was deceived by a hostile policy toward Palestine.”
Citizens of Israel and Palestine must join forces to oust the current government
POLITICO reported on the 19th (local time) that people who barely survived the Hamas attack at a kibbutz in southern Israel are criticizing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying his hard-line policies on Palestine have made security vulnerable.
On the 7th, at Nahal Oz Kibbutz, 800 meters from the Gaza Strip border, Tomer Eliaz, a 17-year-old boy, went from house to house shouting at residents that they would die if they did not come out. Hamas threatened them into doing so.
As the boy said, those who came out of the house were immediately killed or taken hostage to the Gaza Strip. Several children were locked in a chicken coop. Eliaz was also eventually murdered.
Elad Potterman and Adi Cherry, who barely survived Kibbutz Nahal Oz and are currently taking refuge in Belgium, are furious about what they experienced.
Cherry (45), a health economist with dual Belgian and Israeli citizenship, said, “Netanyahu should apologize. I ruined you. “I have to tell you that you were killed because of me, because of my arrogance,” he said, raising his voice.
Porterman and Cherry were able to survive after staying in the shelter of the house for 12 hours. The whole time I was hiding, I could hear rockets flying and Hamas members shouting “Allah Akbar (God is great)” and “Slaughter the Jews.”
Porterman posted the incident on Facebook. “For half an hour the terrorists were ransacking the house and no one came,” he said.
Porterman said he was holding an ax and guarding the door to the evacuation room, while his wife, Maria, was holding their 7-month-old daughter in one hand and holding a knife in the other. They said they never thought they could survive, but the terrorists were unable to open the escape room thanks to the strong lock installed by the previous homeowner.
Cherry said she survived with her husband, Oren, and three children by holding out in the evacuation room, blocking the door with chairs and cupboards.
After Hamas was defeated, those who survived the kibbutz were evacuated to a military base in southern Israel and then left for other places. Cherry, who had decided to leave Israel, arrived in Paris four days later on an El Al airliner and was taken to Belgium by her brother. Porterman’s family arrived the next day.
◆It’s because of Netanyahu
The two families said they could no longer live in Nahal Oz. They say they cannot trust Israel’s current government to protect them.
Many survivors, including Porterman and Cherry, testified to European lawmakers on the 18th that the Israeli government was responsible for the incident.
“We will hold the Israeli government accountable,” Porterman said. I left my daughter to die. “I will never forget it,” he said. He said, “With my own hands, I will absolutely drive out the Netanyahu government from the Israeli parliament. “We are joining forces with those who want to hold the government accountable for abandoning its residents,” he emphasized.
Cherry also can’t sleep because her family was almost killed. She said she couldn’t tell her son that half of her friends had been murdered. “She said, ‘Just a week ago, she dreamed of getting a PhD in economics…’” she said. “It all disappeared in a week,” she said. “I can’t trust the government.”
Porterman takes issue with Netanyahu’s policy of hostility to Palestine. The current government’s national security minister, who has joined hands with far-right parties, makes discrimination against Arabs his creed. Porterman took issue with the Zionist party’s construction of a hut in the Israeli-occupied West Bank two days before the Hamas attack. “We made a fool of the Israeli people by propagating that this is our land and we can do whatever we want,” he said, arguing with a member of the Zionist Party.
Porterman said there was a need for “national awareness” and emphasized that Israelis and Palestinians must rise up against politicians’ deception. “Netanyahu has driven Israel to the brink of civil war. “Many residents are being deceived by politicians’ lies that have persisted for several years,” he said.
He said, “The reason the current government is supported is because people were deceived by lies,” and “The moment people start saying, ‘The king is naked,’ the government will collapse.”
