84% of Harvard CAPS-Harrispol poll respondents “support Israel”
Only 16% of respondents said they supported the Palestinian armed faction Hamas.
As Israel prepares for a ground war in the Gaza Strip controlled by the Palestinian armed faction Hamas, Americans appear to overwhelmingly support Israel in this war.
According to the American political media The Hill on the 20th (local time), in a survey conducted by Harvard CAPS-Harrispol on 2,116 registered voters over two days on the 18th and 19th, 84% responded that they support Israel. On the other hand, only 16% of respondents supported Hamas.
It was revealed that the older the age group, the higher the rate of support for Israel.
By age, 52% of those aged 18 to 24 said they supported Israel in this war, and 48% said they sided with Hamas.
On the other hand, 95% of seniors aged 65 or older responded that they sided with Israel, and only 5% responded that they supported Hamas.
Regarding the controversy taking place at American universities regarding the Israel-Hamas war, 58% of respondents said that college students who criticize Israel condone the violence and terrorism of Hamas, and 42% said that these college students condone violence and terrorist acts. He said he wasn’t doing it.
55% of respondents said employers should hire college students who support Hamas, and 45% said employers should reject students who support Hamas.
“We found that there is widespread support for Israel regardless of political party,” said Mark Penn, co-director of the Harvard CAPS-Harrispol Poll. “The Americans believe that Israel should not cease hostilities against Hamas until Hamas is weakened,” he said.
