“All parties participate… ceasefire declaration → permanent peace”
Confirmation of support for the ‘two-state solution’… Proposal of ‘Guarantor System’
“This is a war crime in Gaza”… ICC Complaint Review
On the 31st (local time), President Recep Tayyip Erdogan proposed an international peace conference to end the Israeli-Palestinian war and achieve permanent peace.
According to Anadolu News Agency, President Erdogan met with reporters after a cabinet meeting in the capital Ankara and made this proposal, saying, “This international conference in which all relevant parties participate will be the most appropriate platform for peace.”
He emphasized, “In order to prevent the ongoing massacre in the Gaza Strip, which has been under intensive shelling by Israel since the attack by Hamas (the Palestinian armed political faction) on the 7th, we must first reach a ceasefire and then move forward on the path to permanent peace.”
President Erdogan previously confirmed his support for the ‘two-state solution’ and proposed a ‘guarantor system’ for it.
President Erdogan also repeated criticism that Israel is committing war crimes in the Gaza Strip and that the West is encouraging this.
He criticized, “Israel, with the support of the United States and Europe, has committed crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip over the past 25 days.”
He continued, “Israel, which seems to have lost its national rationality, is acting like an organization,” and added, “We are continuing discussions to hold accountable the perpetrators of war crimes in the Gaza Strip.” Turkiye is considering filing a complaint against Israel for war crimes at the International Criminal Court (ICC).
He also criticized the international community’s approach to the Israel-Palestine war, pointing out that “the European Union (EU) is unable to even demand a ceasefire, let alone criticize Israel.”
In addition, recalling that dozens of journalists lost their lives in the Gaza Strip due to bombing by the Israeli military, he directly criticized the media, saying, “International media organizations are unable to utter even a single criticism despite the fact that more than 34 of their colleagues were killed in the Gaza Strip.”
He also said to the UN Security Council, “We are just watching as UN organizations and members in the Gaza Strip are targeted,” and added, “Those who watched the deaths of thousands of children in the Gaza Strip today will not be able to say anything about any other topic tomorrow. “You will not be trusted,” he said.
President Erdogan added that Turkiye is helping Palestine and has so far sent 213 tons of humanitarian aid.
