Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, a martial arts enthusiast who predicted a martial arts match with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, suffered a ruptured knee ligament during training.

On the 3rd (local time), Zuckerberg posted on his Instagram, “I tore my anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during sparring and just came out of surgery to replace it,” and posted photos of him lying in a hospital bed with his left leg in a splint. Raised it.

“I was training for a mixed martial arts match early next year,” Zuckerberg said, adding, “But (the timing of the match) will be delayed somewhat.”

Zuckerberg, 39, is said to be a martial arts enthusiast. He started mixed martial arts during the COVID-19 pandemic and fell in love with the sport to the point that he installed a fighting ring in his yard.

Since last June, Zuckerberg has been engaged in an online war of words over a plan to fight Tesla CEO Elon Musk in mixed martial arts. It all started when Musk posted a sarcastic post about the launch of the meta social media (SNS) ‘Thread’, and when a netizen commented, “Zuckerberg does jiu-jitsu, be careful,” he replied, “I’m ready to fight.” This has happened.

In response, Zuckerberg said through Instagram, “Send us the location (location of the match),” and Musk responded, “If it’s real, we should do it,” drawing attention to whether their martial arts match will actually take place. At one point, there was even talk that the venue for the fight between the two was the Italian Colosseum.

However, the actual confrontation between the two is currently in vain. Zuckerberg complained in a thread last August that he proposed a date for the fight and that the president of mixed martial arts organization UFC suggested holding it as a charity match, but that Musk was not taking it seriously.

“It’s time to take the next step,” Zuckerberg said, hinting that his duel with Musk could be canceled. “I’m now going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously.”
