Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s approval rating has hit rock bottom again. Public opinion gave a disastrous evaluation of economic measures such as tax cuts, which were introduced as a reversal card.

According to a public opinion poll (4th to 5th) released by JNN, a Japanese private TBS affiliate, on the 6th, the Kishida cabinet’s approval rating was 29.1%, a 10.5% drop from the previous survey.

After the launch of the Kishida cabinet, it recorded the lowest score in the JNN survey. This is the first time it has fallen below 30%.

The response that “I cannot support” the Kishida cabinet was 68.4%, a 10.6% increase from the last survey. It’s the highest ever.

Only 18% of respondents said they were “looking forward” to the economic measures announced by the Kishida Cabinet last week. The response “I have no expectations” reached 72%.

Prime Minister Kishida included tax reduction policies such as income tax and resident tax in this economic plan as a ‘temporary measure to avoid returning to deflation’. Regarding this, 64% said they “do not evaluate it,” which far exceeds 26% who said they “evaluated it.”

According to the results of a public opinion poll released by Kyodo News on the 5th, the Kishida cabinet’s approval rating was 28.3%, down 4.0 percentage points from the previous survey (October). It broke an all-time low. In a Kyodo survey, this is the first time since the end of the Taro Aso administration in 2009 that the approval rating of the Liberal Democratic Party government’s cabinet fell below 30%.

“I do not support” rose 4.2 percentage points to 56.7%, the highest ever.

62.5% of respondents said they “do not evaluate (positively)” the tax reduction policy, including income tax, included in Prime Minister Kishida’s economic measures.

JNN’s survey was conducted on 2,570 adults aged 18 or older nationwide using the RDD format on the 4th and 5th. Valid responses were obtained from 1,213 people (47.2%). Kyodo also conducted a nationwide telephone poll on the 3rd to 5th. Valid responses were obtained from 417 people on landline phones and 623 people on mobile phones.
