Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 19th that officials from the International Transport Forum (ITF) under the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) experienced the services of its demand response transportation platform ‘Shucle’. Unlike existing public transportation that runs on a fixed route, the Shucle platform provides the optimal route by combining real-time vehicle location, traffic conditions, and operation demand through artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms.

On the 17th, ITF Secretary General Kim Young-tae and other officials experienced Gyeonggi-do’s integrated transportation service ‘Ttokta’, which is operated based on Hyundai Motor Company’s Shucle platform, in Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do on the 17th. They called and boarded the bus using the app in the same way that actual customers use. Hyundai Motor Company’s Shucle platform also guides shared kickboards in areas where it is difficult to deploy public transportation.

On the day of the experience, ITF officials started from the Gamil Community Center in Hanam, Gyeonggi-do and moved to the residential area of Gamil-dong, where residents frequently get on and off. ‘Dokta’ allows users to receive public transportation such as buses by entering the departure and destination points through the application (app).

ITF is an international organization that sets and discusses global agendas on transportation policies, including land transportation, aviation, and shipping. 66 countries, including Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, and France, are active members. Secretary General Kim said, “This is an exemplary example of new mobility that improves transportation efficiency while eliminating the blind spots of public transportation.” He added, “We hope that such mobility services will be shared in the international community to expand consumer choice and improve the inclusiveness of transportation services.” “We will provide support to make it happen,” he said.

Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation is currently providing Tokta service to 10 cities and counties, including Paju and Ansan, after starting pilot operations in Paju in December 2021. Hyundai Motor Company is pursuing demonstration projects in Indonesia and Vietnam to expand the Shucle platform to global regions in the future. Kim Soo-young, managing director of Hyundai Motor Company’s Shucle Business Department, said, “The Shucle platform has established itself as a smart public transportation solution that changes the daily lives of Gyeonggi-do residents,” and added, “We look forward to strengthening global cooperation through collaboration with ITF.”
