President Biden mistook two famous American singers at a Thanksgiving event
“It’s difficult to turn 60”… joke about your age
NBC reported that U.S. President Joe Biden made a statement confusing Taylor Swift and Britney Spears at a Thanksgiving event held at the White House on the 20th (local time). This day was also President Biden’s 81st birthday.
President Biden attended a ceremony to pardon a pair of turkeys named Liberty and Bell, following White House tradition. “These two turkeys traveled more than 1,000 miles to get here,” he said. “It would be much harder than getting tickets to the Renaissance Tour or a Britney Spears concert in Brazil.”
However, Britney Spears is not currently performing. Taylor Swift performed in Brazil on the night of the 19th.
The White House did not respond to NBC’s request for comment on President Biden’s confusion.
According to a recent NBC poll, Taylor Swift is overwhelmingly a well-known singer among voters. It was reported that 94% of respondents said they knew Swift.
Steve Ryken, president of the American Turkey Federation, said on this day, “The turkeys who participated in the event also seemed to like Taylor Swift,” adding, “The two turkeys were listening to music before attending the event.”
Biden, the oldest president in U.S. history, joked about his age, saying, “Coincidentally, today is my birthday,” and “As many of you know, turning 60 is difficult.”
Meanwhile, the White House’s turkey pardon event celebrated its 76th anniversary this year. President Biden explained, “Today marks the 76th anniversary of this event,” adding, “The pardoned turkeys came from Minnesota, but were named after the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia.”
