Average age is 79 years. Legendary rock band ‘The Rolling Stones’ announced that they will hold a North American tour with their first full-length album ‘Hackney Diamond’ in 18 years.

AFP reported on the 22nd (local time) that “Rolling Stones still refuse to grow moss.”

The tour will begin in Houston, Texas, on April 28, 2024, and end in Santa Clara, California, on July 17. We plan to travel across a total of 16 North American cities over the course of three months.

The Rolling Stones’ album ‘Hackney Diamonds’, released last October, contains a total of 12 songs, including the title song ‘Angry’.

This is the first album released since the return of regular album after 18 years and the death of drummer Charlie Watts (1941-2021) in 2021. Two members, including Mick Jagger, told People magazine that they “missed (Watts) incredibly” while recording the album.

The band explained to Variety that the album’s name reflects the characteristics of London’s Hackney district. Jagger explained, “It’s similar to a car window breaking on a Saturday night in Hackney,” and Hackney Diamonds is a slang term used in east London for “broken glass.”

As Jagger released this album to celebrate his 80th birthday, the featuring lineup is also spectacular. A large number of top stars participated, including Elton John, Lady Gaga, and long-time rival Paul McCartney. The Rolling Stones held a release celebration event with them at a club on the West Side of Manhattan, New York, USA on the 19th.

British media reviews of the new album are generally favorable. The Telegraph commented that it was “vivid and thrilling,” while Uncut commented that the band had “struggled” after the death of drummer Charlie Watts in 2021.

On the other hand, Pitchfork harshly criticized it as “a rag that has become so worn-out that its characteristics have disappeared.”

According to record manufacturer BMG, Hackney Diamonds swept the charts in 12 countries.

The Rolling Stones first appeared in 1964 with their first album ‘The Rolling Stones’ and this year marks their 70th anniversary. Members include 80-year-old Mick Jagger, guitarists Keith Richards (79), and Ron Wood (76).
