Business Insider reports… Israeli President’s Office confirmed
“We will emphasize measures to combat online anti-Semitism.”
The U.S. economic media Business Insider reported on the 26th (local time) that Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who has recently been embroiled in controversy over anti-Semitism, plans to visit Israel and meet Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The media said it had confirmed with the office of Israeli President Isaac Herzog that Musk was scheduled to visit Israel the next day, the 27th.
Reuters reported that the Israeli President’s Office said it would “stress the need for action to combat rising anti-Semitism online.”
Israeli broadcaster Channel 12 previously reported that Musk would visit the Gaza Strip and meet President Herzog and Prime Minister Netanyahu.
It is said that Musk met with Prime Minister Netanyahu in California in September of this year and discussed limiting anti-Semitism on social media X (formerly Twitter) owned by Musk.
On the 15th, Musk became controversial after commenting, “You spoke the substantive truth,” on an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory post that said, “The Jewish community is inciting hatred among white people.”
In response, the White House strongly criticized this, saying it was “unacceptable.”
The controversy further expanded when the media watchdog Media Matters released a report stating that ‘advertisements from major companies such as IBM, Apple, NBCUniversal, and Oracle were exposed on several X accounts praising Adolf Hitler.’
Afterwards, it was reported that IBM, Apple, Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, media group Comcast, Paramount Global, and film production/distribution company Lionsgate decided to stop advertising for X.
