On the 11th (local time), the Times of Israel reported, citing U.S. and Israeli officials, that Assistant Secretary Sullivan is scheduled to visit Israel this weekend.

According to a U.S. government official, Assistant Director Sullivan plans to discuss with Israel regarding humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, which has decreased significantly since the collapse of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas on the 1st.

The United States continues to call for increased humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, and Israel claims that the aid bottleneck is not its fault but the failure of related organizations to transport aid supplies.

Egypt and the United Nations, which share a border with the Gaza Strip, are pointing out that Israel’s airstrikes are hindering the delivery of aid supplies to the Gaza Strip.

During his visit, Assistant Secretary Sullivan also plans to raise concerns about civilian casualties in the Gaza Strip.

The U.S. administration is continuing ‘shuttle diplomacy’ with Israel regarding the war in the Gaza Strip.

U.S. Vice President and National Security Advisor Phil Gordon recently met with high-ranking officials from Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA) in Israel and the West Bank, and U.S. Secretary of State Tony Blinken also visited the Middle East earlier this month.

According to Israeli government officials, senior U.S. administration officials plan to visit Israel almost every week.

This visit took place amid growing international criticism of the United States’ support for Israel.

Previously, the United States was criticized for opposing the resolution at the Security Council meeting on the 8th to resolve a humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

According to AFP, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres attended a forum held in Doha, Qatar the day before and condemned, “The Security Council has been paralyzed by geopolitical divisions,” and “its authority and credibility have been seriously damaged (due to delays in responding to the conflict).” .

Although a specific country was not specified, it is interpreted as a remark aimed at the United States, which actually vetoed the resolution at the Security Council meeting.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also criticized the rejection of the resolution on the 9th, asking, “Is this justice?” and “There is a need to reform the Security Council.”

Meanwhile, criticism is expected to intensify as the U.S. administration decides to sell some tank ammunition to Israel through an emergency clause without congressional review.

Josh Paul, a former State Department arms sales official who resigned in opposition to unconditional arms support to Israel after the outbreak of the war in Gaza, said through the New York Times, “There is sincerity in Secretary Blinken’s repeated claims that he wants to minimize civilian casualties in Gaza. “We need to seriously consider whether this exists,” he criticized.
