“Hamas leader Sinwar has American blood on his hands.”
As the war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas entered its 70th day, the United States predicted the fall of Hamas leader Yahya Shinwar.
According to the Times of Israel (TOI) and CNN, a high-ranking U.S. official explained Israel’s Gaza operation on the 14th (local time), targeting Shinwar and saying, “His days are numbered.”
Following the so-called ‘Al-Aqsa Flood’ surprise attack by the Palestinian armed political faction Hamas on October 7, Israel has been carrying out a large-scale clearing operation in the Gaza Strip. The elimination of high-ranking Hamas officials, including Sinwar, was also openly mentioned.
The U.S. official also said, “No matter how long it takes, justice will be done,” and said of Sinwar, “He has American blood on his hands.” It is known that at least 38 Americans died during the October 7 raid.
In relation to this day’s remarks, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) offered a large bounty for information on Hamas leaders, including Sinwar. The bounty on Shinwar amounts to $400,000 (about 517 million won).
$300,000 (approximately 388 million won) for information related to Muhammad Sinwar, Sinwar’s brother and commander of Hamas’ Southern Brigade, and $200,000 (approximately 258 million won) to Rafa’ah Salameh, leader of Hamas’ Khan Younis Battalion. ) has a bounty on it.
The IDF is known to have distributed leaflets containing this content throughout the Gaza Strip. Israel has distributed leaflets to the Gaza Strip containing information on evacuation of residents several times since the start of the war.
Meanwhile, the remarks were made during a visit to Israel by U.S. White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan. On this day, Advisor Sullivan met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Yov Gallant.
They discussed military operations in the Gaza Strip, and Sullivan appears to have suggested to Israel that the high-intensity operations underway in the Gaza Strip be converted to relatively low-intensity ones.
According to the New York Times (NYT), the U.S. Joe Biden administration hopes Israel will switch operations within the next three weeks.
