‘Royal family’s first female pilot’ Jordanian princess participates in Gaza airlift operation

Princess Salma (23), daughter of King Abdullah II of Jordan, participated in an airlift operation to provide emergency medical supplies to the northern part of the Gaza Strip, Palestine. Princess Salma is the first female air force pilot from the Jordanian royal family.

According to Gulf Today of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the 18th (local time), Princess Salma participated in the 5th aerial material drop operation conducted by the Jordanian Air Force on the 14th. He performed the mission by directly piloting the C-130H operated by the Jordanian Air Force.

Princess Salma performed the mission by personally piloting a C-130H operated by the Jordan Air Force.

Since the start of the war between Israel and the Palestinian armed faction Hamas, Jordan has built a Jordanian field hospital in the Gaza Strip and has been delivering medicine and food by air drop.

On this day, the Jordan Air Force also released a photo of Princess Salma in military uniform. Images of Princess Salma walking while talking to a soldier about the quantity of support supplies or posing with other soldiers on a transport plane were shared.

Princess Salma’s mother, Queen Rania, saw the princess like this and said, “Salma is participating in the drop of emergency medical supplies to northern Gaza with her Jordanian air force comrades. “God bless you all,” she wrote on Instagram.

Princess Salma, born in 2000, is the third of King Abdullah II and Queen Rania’s four children. He was a second lieutenant in the Royal Jordanian Air Force. After graduating from the International Academy School in Amman, the capital of Jordan, he followed his father into the Sandhurst Military Academy in England.

King Abdullah II entered the Sandhurst Military Academy in the United Kingdom in 1980 and served as a second lieutenant in the British Army.

Afterwards, Princess Salma was commissioned into the Royal Jordanian Air Force in 2018, and two years later, she became the royal family’s first female military pilot. At the time, King Abdullah II made a splash when he personally attached the ‘pilot wing’, the symbol of pilots, to Princess Salma’s uniform at her commissioning site.
