Biden and Trump selected this year as well as last year
Famous American political figures are listed one after another.
U.S. President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump were named as ‘Best Pinocchio of 2023’ again this year, following last year.
The Washington Post (WP) selected ‘liars’ in the United States and released a list on the 15th (local time).
In addition to Biden and Trump, famous politicians such as Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, and Representative Lauren Boebert were selected as ‘Pinocchio’.
WP pointed out that President Biden, who was chosen as ‘Pinocchio’ for four consecutive years, has a habit of exaggerating his past history.
He has mentioned that the fire that broke out in his home kitchen in 2004 “almost cost the lives of my family and firefighters.” It is reported that the fire was extinguished within 20 minutes and no one was injured.
WP revealed in August that President Biden mentioned this story at least six times while in office.
In addition, President Biden said in April, “We have reduced the deficit by $1.7 trillion (approximately 2,212 trillion won) in the two years since taking office.”
WP reported, “When the pandemic ended, a reduction in the deficit was an expected process,” and “By simply comparing the accounting deficit amount in 2020 and the amount in 2022, it is claimed that the deficit has decreased.”
“Rather, after President Biden took office, the national debt increased by $850 billion (about 1,105 trillion won) more than expected,” he added.
Former President Trump was on the ‘Pinocchio’ list for 9 consecutive years. WP criticized, saying, “Just as he did during his tenure, Trump alone could fill this article,” and especially pointed out lies about Iran.
Former President Trump countered the U.S. counterattack in 2020 by claiming that Iran had threatened to inflict greater damage by targeting U.S. military bases.
However, it was revealed that former President Trump did not launch a counterattack against Iran. The media reported that Iran also did not threaten to fire missiles at places other than the base against former President Trump.
WP reported, “Iran’s missile only hit the base,” and “Thanks to a well-planned evacuation, there were no casualties.”
Key figures in the Republican primary, Florida Governor DeSantis and former South Carolina Governor Haley, were also chosen as ‘Pinocchio’.
Governor DeSantis’s team claimed that former Governor Haley had a serious impact on national security when she hosted a Chinese fiberglass factory while she was governor, but this is not true, WP reported.
Former Governor Haley also mentioned that Governor DeSantis supported the Obama administration’s ‘China trade agreement fast track’ when he was a member of the House of Representatives, but this also turned out to be untrue.
