In the the research analyzed 41 fruits and vegetables based on the nutrient density contained in a 2,000 calorie diet.

The scientific study entitled Defining Powerhouse Fruits and Prayers: A Nutrient Density Approach, rated watercress a score of 100 out of 100 standing out as the healthiest food in the world for its vitamin and mineral content.

The watercress provides 17 essential nutrients such as: vitamin A, C and E, folate, thiamine, calcium, iron, potassium, iodine and phosphorus. The Mendoza government highlighted in a report that the iron content of this vegetable slightly exceeds the content of 100 grams of red meat, another ideal source for fighting anemia.
