Ivan Zhdanov, head of Navalny’s anti-corruption foundation, described the facility as one of Russia’s “most northern and remote” prisons.

The penal colony, known as IK-3in the Arctic settlement of Kharp, is about 1,600 miles northeast of the prison where Navalny has been held for much of the time since his arrest in early 2021.

“Alessio’s situation is a clear example of this how the system treats political prisoners, trying to isolate and repress them,” Zhdanov said on social media.
