Therefore, the first step is to check whether it is a superficial scratchwhich can be removed with a home remedy or from a deeper scratch that requires a more professional solution.

If the scratch is difficult to see with the naked eye and when you run your nail over it it doesn’t stick, it’s superficial. So it will probably disappear with one of these techniques.

From Cleanipedia, they recommend follow the following steps:

First, wash the scratched area remove any residue of the Earth. So, place a good amount of it “Whitening” toothpaste. on a damp microfibre cloth. Distribute the toothpaste with circular movements until it covers the entire line.

Rinse the area to remove any toothpaste residue and dry with a soft fabric to avoid damaging the body surface again. If the scratch persists, repeat the procedure one or two more times.

This method is recommended by Begoña Pérez, author of the book Cleanliness, order and happiness: small tricks to solve big disasters (Planeta, 2022), known as the “Spanish Marie Kondo”.

Begoña, or La Ordenatriz, as it presents itself on social media, clarifies that lacquering does not end with scratches, but it helps to “disguise” it. and, like toothpaste, it only works for superficial paint damage.

In this case, the scratch area should be sprayed with hairspray and immediately clean with a damp cloth in water to remove it completely. Since the paint contains aggressive products that can damage the bodywork, Begoña recommends rinsing the surface quickly.

For deeper scratches

If the scratch is deeper, Cleanipedia offers this method which requires quick-drying resin, paint clarifyer and polishing stick.

First you need to wash the affected area and then apply the resin evenly with circular movements.

Add the clarifier and polish the surface. Remove excess applied products to prevent them from drying out.
