In the last few hours, the Plurinational Constitutional Court of Bolivia has annulled the power of indefinite re-election with a sentence which, specifically, disqualifies former president Evo Morales ahead of the 2025 elections. Morales reacted by blaming the “empire” and the right.
The Court ruled that a presidentor he can exercise more than two mandates continuously or discontinuously. The ruling, which broadly establishes that indefinite re-election “is not a human right”, as the controversial former president stated, was issued following an advisory opinion of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR) and not has the possibility of appeal.
“The political ruling of the TCP is proof of the complicity of some magistrates with the black plan that the Government is carrying out by order of the empire and with the conspiracy of the Bolivian right”, protested Morales.
“The neoliberals unite to try to outlaw the MAS-IPSP and eliminate us politically and even physically. No fear. The fight continues, brothers and sisters!”, he said.

EFEMorales split the ruling MAS party in the midst of confrontation with his former ally and current president Luis Arce who will seek re-election with that same force. The clash between the two arose from the former president’s intention to intervene in the management of the government, something that the president and former Minister of Economy did not allow.
Opponents of the former president, such as Jeanine Áñez, imprisoned for crimes of breach of duty and resolutions contrary to the Constitution linked to the allegations of the alleged coup, said that the sentence “puts an end to Evo Morales’ delirium of being re-elected forever.”
Santa Cruz Governor Luis Fernando Camacho said the ruling was an impediment for anyone “The tyrant’s apprentice trampling on the vote or ignoring a referendum, end up committing fraud with the sole intention of perpetuating themselves in power.”
Camacho, who yesterday served a year in prison, is also accused by the Bolivian prosecutors for the alleged 2019 coup.
