At the end of a series of clashes, some at close range, Israeli forces managed to take control of the Hamas military command in the eastern sector of Gaza.

According to the Israeli spokesperson, the Hamas military command consisted of 37 buildings within a civilian residential area, including hospitals, schools and apartment buildings. It was connected to a network of tunnels.

The military found the entrances to five important tunnels. 20 meters underground was the command bunker from which Hamas managed the phases of the war.

During patrols, soldiers of the elite “Shaldag” unit engaged in firefights and eliminated Hamas forces on the spot. Then the underground area was detonated. During this operation, Israel had three deaths: an officer and two sergeants.

On the other hand, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant denied that the army is about to stop the offensive in Gaza.

”The feeling that we are about to stop is not correct. “If we do not clearly prevail, we will not be able to resist in the Middle East,” Gallant said during an inspection of troops deployed in the Strip.

“The war, he added, is now in Khan Yunis. We are making efforts in various passages, both above the tunnels and in depth. We bring them (Hamas leaders) from all directions.”

The army has ordered the inhabitants of Nusseirat (in the southern sector of the Strip) to move further south, towards Deir el Ballah, because it is expanding its operations.
