War in the 21st century is nonsense. War is evil. There is no way war is acceptable in the 21st century.”
António Guterres, UN Secretary General

This was Guterres’ first visit to Ukraine since the start of the conflict on February 24. He was in Russia two days ago, where he tried to negotiate with President Vladimir Putin to end the war. During the trip, the Secretary-General stated that the UN was working to evacuate civilians from Mariupol, a port city besieged by the Russians.

Mariupol

Ukrainian authorities reported today that the Russians carried out more than 50 bomb attacks on Mariupol. The Azov Battalion condemned the use of “large amounts of phosphorus bombs” in the region.

Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Iryna Venicetova said she has identified more than 8,000 war crimes committed by Russia since the invasion.

The city’s City Council reported today that nearly 100,000 residents are in a state of moral hazard “not only because of the bombings, but also because of unbearable and unsanitary living conditions.”

Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boychenko called for the city to be completely evacuated.

“The invaders are unable to provide food, water and medicine to the existing population. Or they are not interested. They block all evacuation attempts. Without this, people will die. After all, living conditions are now medieval,” he said. Note.
