“Fito” and “El Salvaje”, the drug trafficking bosses who keep Ecuador in suspense

Ecuador is experiencing hours of tension and violence, with much of the country under attack by armed groups linked to drug trafficking, classes suspended and attacks on the University of Guayaquil and a television channel. Behind these fateful hours there are two silhouettes. They are those of “Fito” and “The Savage”the leaders of rival criminal gangs have escaped from prison in the last few hours and are keeping the country in suspense.

Adolfo Macías Villamaralias “Fito”, leader of the criminal gang The Coneros, escaped from Guayaquil Litoral prison last Sunday and until now the forces had failed to recapture him. Since 2011 he has been sentenced to 34 years in prison for crimes such as drug trafficking and murder.

Ringleader of The wolves in Pichincha, Fabricio Colon Picoalias “El Salvaje”, escaped this morning together with 38 other inmates from Riobamba prison and is accused by the public prosecutor Diana Salazar of having attempted to kill her in an attack.

Colón Pico, according to the local press, is the leader of what is considered the most violent gang in Ecuador and was arrested in Quito on January 5th. They accused him of kidnapping, after Salazar’s statements.

The city platform SOS Cárceles reported on the social network From that criminal gang they claim that the arrest of Colón Pico and the escape of the pseudonymous Fito would demonstrate that there is “an alliance between the government of Daniel Noboa and Los Choneros”.
