I’ll tell you a story. Once upon a time there was a young 20-year-old princess in a palace near The Hague, in the Dutch region of Zeeland. Catarina-Amalia (even though everyone called her Amalia) she was daughter of Kings William and Máxima and, if the Dutch continued to respect their monarchical tradition, she would one day become queen.

But Amalia was a sad princess, especially because she lived protected from the threats she suffered. Her country was going through a serious crisis due to the growth of drug trafficking groups that controlled the entry of Latin American cocaine into Europe through the ports of Antwerp (Belgium) and Rotterdam.

They had grown so much and challenged the security forces of those two countries so much that, as happened to the Belgian Minister of Justice, the young Amalia had to protect herself under seven keys to avoid being kidnapped.

Amalia was sad, but lately, judging by certain news, Amalia was smiling. Why was she smiling? Because Amalia had found her Prince Charming, they said.

The life of the young princess was carefully examined, nothing escaped the journalists of the European media dedicated to truthful information. Especially since Amalia had become of age, her actions and her sayings were read and reread in search of clues.

Initially the rumors pointed to the young Belgian Prince Gabriel. Also twenty years old, Gabriel would not initially be king because he has an older sister, Elisabeth. But he is one of the few male princes of European royal houses, where women dominate in the generation currently aged 15 to 25.

It was later said about Amalia, and confirmed by specialized Dutch journalists following information from the Royal House of Orange, that she actually liked women, not men, so much so that the rumors about her admiration for the Belgian Gabriel died down . But now there is still talk of a princethis time belonging to a royal family who does not reign because his country has been a republic for many decades.

Amalia’s new alleged love, reveals the Dutch magazine ‘Privé’, would be Boris from Bulgariasix years older than the Dutchman and son of the last king, Simeon II.

Dutch media believe they have found the proof. To escape the extraordinary security with which she lives in her country, Amalia usually spends short holidays in Madrid. In the Spanish capital she feels more free and, thanks to her mother, she masters the language.

The city is also the territory of the Bourbons, with whom the Bulgarian royal family has had excellent relations for many decades and where Simeon II lived in exile for many years, so it is not strange that Boris, prince of Tarnovo, a title conferred on him by the heirs to the throne of extinct Bulgarian monarchy. Tarnovo was a very important city during the Middle Ages, a political, cultural and economic center with great influence on the Balkan and Slavic Orthodox world.

In 1951 Simeón II arrived in Madrid, still in the hardest years of Franco’s dictatorship. Boris’s grandfather married in 1962 the Spanish Margarita Gómez-Acebo y Cejuela, the aristocratic daughter of the Marquises of Cortina.

The couple had five children: Kardam, Kyril, Kubrat, Konstantin and Kalina. Boris is the son of Kardam, who died in 2015. He has a brother named Beltrán. Simeon II returned to Bulgaria at the fall of communism and ten years later, in 2001, won the presidential elections. Four years later he lost the elections and returned to Spain.

Amalia and Boris were last seen together on October 13 during the royal wedding of Princess Victoria of Hohenlohe-Langenburg and Maxime Corneille. Boris, in an image highlighted by royal family experts, helped Amalia into the car as a prince would not do with a princess for whom he has no intention beyond friendship.
