It is attracting attention as it is known that an active-duty U.S. Air Force officer will participate for the first time in ‘Miss America’, where beauties selected from each state in the U.S. gather to select America’s most beautiful woman.
According to the New York Post and Fox Teeth Colorado on the 10th (local time), Madison Marsh (22), who was selected as ‘Miss Colorado’, is the first active-duty Air Force officer to compete in the Miss America beauty pageant. His rank is currently first lieutenant and he is serving as a training officer at the U.S. Air Force Academy.
Marsh is from Arkansas, USA, and is said to have participated in space camp and enjoyed flying lessons since he was young. He entered the Air Force Academy in El Paso County, Colorado to achieve his dream of becoming an airplane pilot and astronaut.
Marsh, who earned a master’s degree in public policy from the Harvard Kennedy School while attending the military academy, had a new dream: competing in a beauty pageant.
With the permission of the military academy, she competed in ‘Miss Colorado’, which selects the most beautiful woman in Colorado, and was selected as the most beautiful woman.
Marsh will compete for the Miss America crown against 49 other candidates at the national stage in Florida on the 14th.
“It’s definitely been a wonderful experience to bring together the two sides of what I love most about my life and to make a difference in helping people realize that they don’t have to put limits on themselves,” Marsh told the publication.
He added, “By showing that I am Miss Colorado, I hope to create an environment where others feel more comfortable in the process of finding what is meaningful to them.”
Marsh said that if she were selected as Miss America, she would like to share her experience serving in the military with young girls and dispel stereotypes about female soldiers.
However, Marsh does not plan to become an officer after graduating from the military academy. He said he was inspired to pursue cancer research after his mother, who suffered from pancreatic cancer, passed away.
“As I got closer to graduating from military academy, I realized I was more interested in policymaking and cancer research,” Marsh said. “That’s why I went to the Kennedy School,” she said. “Now I want to use what I studied at the Kennedy School to figure out how policy works.”
