Ukraine will play a friendly match against Germany’s Borussia Mönchengladbach on May 11 before playing in the European playoffs for the 2022 World Cup, the Ukrainian Football Federation (AUF) said on Friday.
The match will be played at the Borussia Park Stadium in Mönchengladbach. The AUF expressed its “gratitude” to the German club and said friendship would be a “key element” in preparing a place dispute at the World Cup in Qatar.
The match to be played against Scotland for the first stage of the repechage, which will take place on March 24, was postponed to June 1 due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which started in February.
Ukrainians are expected to start their preparations in Slovenia in early May, as their facilities are threatened with bombings.
The winner of the match to be played in Glasgow between Scotland and Ukraine will face Wales, who beat Austria and advanced to the second round.
The final European representative will integrate the World Cup Group B with England, Iran and the USA.
Last Tuesday, Ukrainian clubs decided to end the national championship early without determining a winner. The tournament has been suspended since February.
