Minutes after announcing that the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, had been admitted to hospital for abdominal surgery, Buckingham Palace surprised with another announcement, indicating that King Charles III will be subjected to a “corrective procedure” next week for enlargement of the prostate.

The palace says the 75-year-old monarch has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate “like thousands of men every year”.
It adds that there will be “a short recovery period” required after the procedure.
“His Majesty’s condition is benign and he will be admitted to hospital next week for a corrective procedure, the Palace said.
“The King’s public engagements will be postponed for a short recovery period,” he added.
The monarch was due to hold a series of meetings and events at Dumfries House on Thursday and Friday, but they have now been postponed.
