Mercedes-Benz Korea is launching nine new cars this year, starting with the new E Classic. Additionally, the world’s first Maybach brand center is planned to be built in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
Mercedes-Benz Korea held a press conference at the COEX exhibition hall in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the morning of the 19th and announced plans to launch a new car in Korea this year along with the launch of the 11th generation new E-Class.
The meeting was attended by Oliver Thone, Executive Vice President of Product Strategy and Operations at Mercedes-Benz AG, Mathias Vaitl, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Korea, and Kilian Thelen, Executive Vice President of Product, Marketing and Digital Business Division. .
This year, Mercedes-Benz Korea plans to introduce five fully modified new cars, including the E-Class, CLE Coupe, CLE Cabriolet, Maybach EQS SUV, and electric G-Class, and four partially modified models, including the Maybach GLS, EQA, EQB, and G-Class.
Mercedes-Benz also plans to open the Mercedes-Maybach Brand Center, a dedicated Maybach showroom, in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu for the first time in the world this year, and to introduce a high-output electric vehicle charging facility of up to 350kW. Mercedes-Benz’s goal is to build 25 high-output charging networks by 2025 and secure about 150 charging facilities through this.
Additionally, one showroom, two service centers, and one certified used car showroom will be added this year. Through this, we plan to operate 65 showrooms, 79 service centers, and 25 certified used car showrooms nationwide.
Mercedes-Benz sold 76,697 units in Korea last year, ranking second in imported car sales after BMW.
The Maybach brand, including the Maybach S-Class and Maybach GLS, achieved its highest performance ever by selling 2,596 units, a 32% increase over the previous year. The G Class also recorded the highest sales volume at 2,169 units last year since its domestic launch in 2012. Electric vehicles sold 9,184 units in a wide portfolio ranging from compact vehicles to full-size sports utility vehicles (SUVs), growing 83.4% compared to the previous year.
