After the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), the Yemeni government, convened an emergency response meeting on the 21st (local time), the situation of hostilities, including attacks on ships related to Israel and the United States in the Red Sea due to attacks by Houthi rebels, and the national security crisis that is worsening day by day. Foreign media outlets, citing Yemen’s state-run Sabah News Agency, reported that measures were discussed.

According to a statement released by the committee through the state-run Sabah News Agency, the Presidential Guidance Council held the Houthi rebel government responsible for the consequences of the escalation of the war, saying, “The escalation of missile attacks and bombings on civilian areas is harming the government’s peace efforts.” He gave me a stern warning that I would have to lose.

Several sources in the Yemeni government say that over the past few days, they have witnessed Houthi rebels mobilizing combat troops, tanks, and various weapons and redeploying them throughout Yemen, which has been ravaged by civil war.

The Yemeni government statement also contains praise for “the full preparedness of the Yemeni army and the way civilian resistance armed groups are defending state institutions and thoroughly preparing for Houthi attacks.”

In addition, the PLC stated that international shipping and trade will be greatly damaged by the Houthis’ continued attacks within Yemeni territorial waters, and that the international community should unite to support the Yemeni government’s efforts to protect its territorial waters and sovereignty and strengthen its military capabilities. He asked me to cooperate.

Experts are expressing concern, interpreting the PLC’s convening of the meeting and the release of this statement as a signal that fighting between pro-government forces and Houthi rebels will resume and the civil war will intensify.

The Houthi rebels have continued the civil war since 2014, occupying and effectively controlling the northern region, including the capital Sanaa, and have caused a huge humanitarian crisis and damage to Yemen.

A Saudi Arabia-led coalition has been trying to end the civil war with the support of Yemen’s internationally recognized government, but fighting between the two sides remains intermittent and remains at a stalemate.
