Since its arrival on Netflix, The Snow Society has been one of the most resonating films of 2024. A few days after its premiere, the film JA Bayona continues to resonate. Nobody wants to lose it. Even if necessary, they see it on planes…
A TikTok shared by @iitziiar.28 shows a passenger watching the in-flight movie on his phone mid-flight. Tragedy of the Andes.
“There are normal people and then there are those who watch The Snow Society on a Plane,” wrote the person who uploaded the video, which already has more than 4.3 million views on TikTok and around 1.5 million on x.
“I’m not afraid of planes, but I wouldn’t be able to”wrote @iitziiar.28 in the description of the clip.
The video generated a lot of interaction as The Snow Society tells the story of the crash of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 in the Andes on October 13, 1972, which took the lives of 29 people.
The tragedy is also known for the survival story of the 16 who managed to survive after spending 72 days in inhumane conditions.
What the networks say
As expected, TikTok was full of comments about the viewer’s brave decision. There was also a user who shared their experience watching the movie on air.
“It’s called living a movie”, “It’s called learning survival tactics” and 100% recommended experience” were some of the phrases that appeared in the TikTok comments.
A young woman, who calls herself “Cande” on that social network, acknowledged that she was the protagonist of the video. “I’m the one in the video. I saw the first 20 minutes and regretted it,” that person explained.

The Snow Society continues to be talked about even during the awards season.
In recent days the film lost the Golden Globe (with Anatomy of a Fall, a film that will not be able to compete at the Oscars because France did not select it to represent it) and was nominated in four categories at the BAFTA.
At the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards, the film will try to win best international film, best make-up and hairstyling, best soundtrack and best special effects. The gala evening will be held on Sunday 18 February.
Furthermore, The Snow Society will compete in the Goya Awards of Spanish cinema in more than 10 categories.
